"Portal is the companion work to Untitled Blue Abstract. The works are inspired by and speak to the concept of Divine Feminine energy, which is something I explore again and again in my work. This painting is abstract and deliberately very minimal. The title is a euphemism. At the time I was nervous calling it Vagina/Vulva Painting and felt more comfortable with the implicit suggestion. This was clearly enough - immediately after sharing the work on my Instagram Stories, I got DMs from three separate friends joyfully declaring 'VAGINA!!!'" 

"The work is also intended to bring to mind galaxies, which can be very yonic. 'Portal' as in, the doorway to another world. I like that connection because those formations are natural, beautiful, powerful, life-giving… and not inherently shameful or taboo or awkward. So, a useful model for how to (re)think about female anatomy..."
